On the western front, following a year’s residency in Exeter where he learned to shout “best bitter!” in crowded pubs to satisfy his thirst, Alan received his Diploma from the Faculty of Astrological Studies in 1980. He subsequently served as the Faculty’s sole correspondence tutor for their North American student population in the years 1982-87.
After 15 years of consulting and teaching, he was introduced to Hindu astrology, and subsequently earned a BA-Jyotish from the American College of Vedic Astrology. He studied for 12 years with Hart de Fouw, arguably the most eminent jyotish teacher in the western hemisphere. He’s been a regular speaker at the Sedona Vedic Astrology Conference series, and in online symposia and webinars, often as a representative of jyotish among western astrologers.
He’s written three books for western sidereal astrologers: Mutual Reception, The Draconic Bowl, and The Passionate Planets, utilizing principles of traditional western astrology. His books on Vedic astrology, which have been praised for the quality of their research and writing, include Kala Sarpa, Parivartana Yoga, Kama Yoga, and Stellar Astrology, Volumes 1-4.
He’s also written seven crime novels. His NEW AGE NOIR mystery trilogy (Scorpio Rising, Felonious Monk, Soma County) feature an astrologer protagonist, whom one reviewer dubbed “Sherlock Holmes with a horoscope.” He also writes celebrity profiles and current event articles for his website, and provides educational posts on his YouTube channel (@AlanAnnand).

Anne's educational background is BN (Hons) and a master's degree in Developmental Psychology (MSSc). She's also trained in Leadership Management and in Family Centered Care. Working as a full-time astrologer in Finland and abroad since 2017, she specializes in the branches of karmic- and psychological astrology.

My maternal family has been involved in astrology for about the past 250 years as far as we know today, which makes me a 5th generation astrologer. While I started studying astrology myself through some books in 2011, my grandfather's emotional involvement in my development as an astrologer elevated my awareness and understanding of the subject to the levels that I never imagined. He taught me various nuances and tricks to be accurate in client work. Further, he also guided me on how to have conversations during the client work. Around late 2017, I got introduced to traditional Hellenistic and Perso-Arabic astrology through the translations that were made by various scholars. This exposure to other traditions besides the Vedic tradition helped me appreciate the vastness of the art itself and humbled me to crave for more learning. Today, my practice is a blend of Vedic, Hellenistic and Medieval Perso-Arabic tradition. My primary interest is natal astrology, which includes a general study of the nativity covering all aspects of life. I also do Annual astrology forecast with ancient techniques from Hellenistic and medieval traditions which help us understand the nature and quality of the period that is immediately ahead of us. Besides, I also do electional astrology combining Indian and medieval Persian techniques to help the seekers identify the best possible time for any of their ventures. My background in Finance gives me a specific interest to study the global economy from an astrological point of view with keen interest in international relations.
